The Greeley Stampede is postponed until 2021, but the traditions continue
With the impact of COVID-19 and the recommendations from local and national government, we have all had to make sacrifices in an attempt to reduce the spread of the virus. Recently the Greeley Stampede was notified by government health officials that we would not be able to host our large event due to COVID-19 health concerns for our community. Unfortunately this has resulted in the need to cancel the summer events that were scheduled for late-June, while postponing the 99th Greeley Stampede to 2021.
In support of our guests and ticket holders, the Greeley Stampede is offering credit for the postponed 99th Annual Greeley Stampede in 2021, the opportunity to donate to community organizations or refunds. If you choose the credit option, you will be given an exclusive opportunity to select or purchase additional tickets before they are available to the general public when we have the 2021 concerts and event schedule finalized. Event sponsors and donors will also be offered an opportunity to donate, rollover or request a refund. Visit greeleystampede.org/p/postpone to process your claim by June 1, 2020. If you have questions about your tickets, please e-mail tickets@greeleystampede.org or call 970-356-7787 and we will get back to you as quickly as we can. Please understand that we too are practicing social distancing and limited hours of operation through this.

Even though this year’s Greeley Stampede is postponed to 2021 and the summer events have been cancelled, we are working on continuing two community traditions—fireworks & rodeo.
One of the missions of the Greeley Stampede is to celebrate our independence. There is no better way to do this as a community then the annual fireworks show. The Greeley Stampede will partner with local businesses to continue to provide our community with Northern Colorado’s largest display on Saturday, July 4, 2020. Now more than ever, the community needs this family tradition and opportunity to celebrate our independence and life. For this occasion, we have set a goal to increase the investment in fireworks for a larger, more patriotic fireworks display.
Rodeo and the western lifestyle has been the backbone of our event since the first Spud Rodeo in 1922. In partnership with the PRCA to continue the Greeley rodeo tradition, the Greeley Stampede is planning to produce three (3) virtual Spud Rodeo performances in September 2020 to celebrate our roots and the sport. Due to projected COVID-19 limitations on gathering sizes, these virtual rodeos will be broadcasted nationally through the Cowboy Channel network. We had hopes of continuing the July rodeo tradition, but now feel that September may provide a better opportunity to include more community involvement. A portion of the Spud Rodeo series proceeds will be donated to the Weld Recovers Fund COVID-19 relief benefiting the United Way of Weld County and Weld Community Foundation. We will provide more information on the Spud Rodeos when available.
If you are interested in the Spud Rodeo and/or fireworks sponsorship opportunities or to donate in support of the 501c4 Greeley Stampede organization, please contact Justin Watada at justin@greeleystampede.org.
From everyone at the Greeley Stampede, we would like to say thank you to our community for the support and encouragement we have received. We understand the disappointment in not being able to proceed with this summer’s events, it is also disappointing to us. We can however look forward to when we are able to celebrate again safely and continue the traditions of the Greeley Stampede. As we learn more and work through COVID’s impact, we will post updates to keep everyone informed. We appreciate your understanding and patience through this.
