The Individual World Poetry Slam brings together elite competitive performance poets from countries all over the globe, including the United States, Canada, France, Germany, and France. In this competition, poets compete in preliminary competitions (referred to as “bouts”) over two nights. The top performers from those days move on to Finals, where one poet is crowned iWPS champion!
The top fourteen poets from two nights of preliminary bouts compete in Finals. Finals consist of three 3-minute rounds. Poets cumulative scores from preliminary bouts are reset. The top seven poets in round 1 advance to round 2, and the top four poets from round 2 advance to the final round. Poets are not allowed to repeat poems through the entire competition, including finals
