The Cascades Daylight is a scenic excursion along the Columbia and Deschutes Rivers, led by the historic Southern Pacific 4449 locomotive. The journey begins at Portland’s Union Station, picking up passengers in Vancouver about 25 minutes later. We then travel up the north side of the Columbia River until we reach Wishram, in about 108 miles. We cross the Columbia and head south down the Deschutes River Canyon, through Maupin and Madras. Between Madras and Redmond, we cross the dramatic Crooked River Gorge. We’ll turn the train at the connection to the City of Prineville Railway and head on to Bend. From there, you will be transported to your designated hotel for the evening via bus. We will depart from Bend the next morning, following the same path back to Vancouver and Portland. Views will be reversed on the return trip.
